Jorberron: Reborn

Thraxis's Tattoo

Trebaz sinara 5

Those that can read Elvish can understand the runes of the tattoo:

“Find safe landing in the cove of the lion’s maw.
Northeast of the cove lies the black rock,
which orients toward a vine-choked ravine.
Through the ravine, a stone maiden gestures to the cavern
where the tomb awaits.
Deep within the cavern is the pillar that we cannot pass.
The marks upon the it are as dragonmarks, yet unlike them.
And they surely hold the key.”

Hmmm… could work. No supplies needed for me, unless we want to stop off somewhere for a chance to make some magic items. Do we know that someone on the Dying Son has a way to respond to us? I’d hate to be out on this island with no trip home. How do we calculate the number of days on the island? Would it be better to just call them when we’re done and hold out for pick up?

Thraxis's Tattoo

How long were they expecting to wait since you last saw the ship? How long has it been? Maybe an on-sea drop off/pick up is the best idea. If this harbor is safe, then the Dying Son should be able to sit in it and wait for us there. Even if we have to fly some distance to the island from an anchored ship, I should be able to handle that for a short distance.

A knock on the door interrupts your conversation, you open the door to find Doc Grimm outside leaning against the door frame, “Jus’ wanted to inform you that Damog… I mean Capt. Damog, has finally set us a course. Seems he didn’t think much farther than the penal mines. Regardless, we be headed for Tantamar. It be about 2 days down the coast, cause the currents and winds ‘ill be with us. Damog, knows that our course be contrary to where ye’d like to head, but we’d rather spend a day to remake the Laughing Lady into the Wyvern’s Sting. After we be done with that, then our Cap’t says he’ll take ye where ever ye wish. Or if ye don’t want to wait the day in Tantamar then ye can find yer own passage. Jus’ let the Cap’t know.”
He turns and walks away.

can we sending stone the Dying Sun to meet us near Tantamar? I dont want these pirates waiting for us and the tales of many riches pirstes in past have burries treasures there giving them ideas on doing us wrong..Lets get our crew and get to the island. Any other ideas? (Knyanna says this after the pirate leaves…)Also side note..I read elvish, anyone else? Need to look for spells to help with dragonmarks or runes? Anyone speak draconic? We also need spells that may desipher script? Or read magic? The key may be held by a dragon marked person?

Thraxis's Tattoo

I like the idea of the Dying Sun coming to Tantamar if possible. Breetaw can barely read and write common, let alone that dragon language or your elfish tongue. We should be able to get any supplies in Tantamar and possibly make a game plan while we wait for our own transportation. Is this jungle terrain? Do we want to hire any guides / meat shields / torch bearers?

Thraxis's Tattoo

No NPCs of any kind. Slag says, “No. We do this alone.”

Dying Sun meet us in Tantamar? Great, if possible. How will they communicate back? We can wait for them to rebuild this ship so it doesn’t get recognized and then make it back to the Dying Sun incognito.

Thraxis's Tattoo

get off the bootleg ship before they dock…no strings..sending stone the dying sun now to meet us. will save time this way…we never hire outsiders.

Thraxis's Tattoo

FYI SENDING STONES: Your group has 2 types of sending stones.
1st type is keyed to Sur’kil for communication 1/day (I believe your group has 3 of these).
2nd type you have acquired through other means. 1 time use object that allows a user to send AND receive a short message of 25 words or less to any creature with which they are familiar.

Thraxis's Tattoo

I could bat swarm to the Dying sun and bring them to us at Tantamar?

Thraxis's Tattoo

It is a 2 day travel to Tantamar. Let’s use the sending stone now and get a response from the capt of Dying Son/Sun? Have them meet us in Tantamar. If they leave now also, it will only be a 3 or 4 day trip for them. In four days tops we can be back on their deck and go where we will.
Ok, no outsiders. Just a thought. I will need more provisions anyway. Some of us have to eat. I think flying to the Dying Sun could be an ok thought if someone were to leave us now and do it. I can’t hold the form for that long and Slag is too noticeable. If we wanted to go that route instead, it would have to be Knyanna or Recluse. Of course, if we use the sending stone now, they could be on their way almost immediately. I vote for that method.

Thraxis's Tattoo

Item of note: Who has non-Sur’kil sending stones?

Thraxis's Tattoo

Knyana, the bat swarming would take days. Slag on his horse would be quicker, but still would take a while. Didn’t it take us days to get here on the boat? I have to sleep at some point and depending on how long it would take, I might collapse from exhaustion en route.

I have that type of stone. Also vote for that method. I have those types of stones for sure. A few of them I believe. Though, I say if our ship is coming to scoop us, there’s no reason they should have to travel an EXTRA two days there and two days back. I say we stay put where we are and wait for them. Not in the prison, mind you, but on Capt. Mawg’s boat out in the water. We can’t afford to lose 4-5 days on this guys penchant for boat decorating.

If Capn Ahab doesn’t drop us where we want to go I say we put a knife in his gullet. He never said anything about a 5-day furlough (2 days to the port, 1 to redress the ship, and 2 days back again to our current position, not to mention 2-3 days back from there to where we want to be) after we accomplished our part of the mission. If he wants to be dead after rescuing his friends son, well, way to go. Good jorb! Have at thee! I’m all 4 cooking up some Ahab-steaks and commandeering the crew. I believe they call that a mutiny. Or is it a hijacking since we’re not formally part of the crew?

Hmmm… I think you’re missing the point of “decorating” his ship. You see, when we hijacked the boat we’re on, the display of my nightmare flashing into the night sky as well as allowing a former crew member to swim back to mainland may have attracted a lot of unwanted attention possibly leading to a search for this ship. I believe the captain is trying to revamp the ship so it doesn’t look like the one we hijacked (clever, no?). I don’t think that’s a bad idea, and Slag thinks we might as well go with him to get it done. We could send a sending stone to see if the Dying Son crew would come pick us up, but who knows if they’re even aware of penal mines and/or are willing to do it. Much less, the time frame of them finding us, knowledge of operating a sending stone, blah blah yada yada. The crew of the Dying Son is paid to wait for us anyway. Let’s not get too crazy here. I say we ride it out, meet back up with the Dying Son (Sun?), and go on with our plans. NO NPC’S, NO MUTINY, follow the course with confidence and stick together.

Thraxis's Tattoo

I’m going to have to jump on the Slag-wagon for this one. The captain has been good, no reason to gut him. He agreed to take us wherever we want after the ship is re-outfitted as to not be recognizable. In that week we can rest up, buy supplies, make magic items, study the map and come up with a travel plan. I don’t think one more week will kill anyone. I need arrows and food. Perhaps some healing potions and that slag-oil could be scrounged up in port too.
In out of game time we’re talking a few minutes of game play to run the course.
Are we traveling with a corpse to read this map? Maybe we can have someone make us a map on a scroll or something. Let’s think about this as a viable option.
Jordan, is it Sun or Son? I’ve seen it both ways here.

Thraxis's Tattoo

OK..The pirate captain told us he would need to “fix” the stollen ship, so this is not a suprise and not something to gut him for, although we should keep our eye on him..pirate and all. Although we technically own this boat since we stole it not the. We could sending stone the Dying Sun to meet up somewhere else and sooner out in the water? that way we arent associated with the ship at all? I have a “non sur kil” stone as well.

Thraxis's Tattoo

Ah, Knyana the Mediator. Ha!
I…as Adam…am going to take a look at some maps. Is it safe to assume, Jordan, that there are maps available to Breetaw and his wandering henchmen to peruse? Maybe if we give the Dying Sun a destination somewhere between hither and thither, the transfer can happen faster and our characters won’t lose as much time. In this case, I’m thinking about in-game time as time passes for those that have funky dragonish marks. Play time won’t be much different. I’m sure Jordan wants us to get to the meat of the island ASAP so we don’t waste his planning time.

Thraxis's Tattoo

I have the other “non Sur Kil” stone.

1.) The shipe you’ve been traveling on is called “The Dying Son”.

2.) I’m not trying to push you guys anywhere sooner, I just want to have an idea of what/where you want to go. Then table time won’t be spent figuring that out. That’s all.

3.) Breetaw, there are a couple maps in the room you guys are conversing in (the room/tiny library Knyana claimed as her own). I’ll post a map. Though without an orienrteering/navigating skill you won’t be able to determine the quality/accuracy of the maps.

4.) The drawing/map that I posting at the start of this thread is what Sachmo transcribed from the corpse to scroll. Though you are correct that you have a dehydrated corpse still in the room with you.

Ok, technical difficulties. You can find a map of Lhazaar Principalities here

When you click on the Lhazaar map you should be able to enlarge the map by clicking on it. Cheers!

so what shall we do? Sending stone “the dying sun to meet us at Regal port?” They are docked at Port Verge right? Then this ship can get close enough for us to take a row boat the rest of the way…Then we can get any additional things we need and our ship is waiting for us. Thoughts?

Thraxis's Tattoo

Knyana, you are correct. The Dying Son is at Port Verge currently.
In reference to the map, your group is currently off of the western coast of Cape Far. Somewhere between Cape Far and Farwatch Isle.

Also, of note. The map of the Lhazaar Prinicipalities by no means includes all of the tiny fishing villages that dot the islands and coast. Though you have seen no villages on the coast of Cape Far yet.

So are we in agreement that we will join in the conversion of the ship? I have some plans for when we get to a port town or whereever we go, as well as when we return to Port Verge. If we can agree to go along with Damog, then maybe our awesome, intelligent, handsome DM will let us advance through the time and submit our plans to him as to what we do for those days and save time at the table.

Whoa! quadruple entry. I have no problem with joining them for the conversion and then having them take us to our ship. There would be no necessity for them to hide at that time and would be able to sail us directly into port to the Sun.

Thraxis's Tattoo

not in agreement…time is time and we didnt even get paid for this excursion. We need to get to our ship, not sail around the continent and past our destination and then sit and wait for our ship to come? Demog picked the port for a reason, no one cares if you use their docks as a chop shop! We need to get off this thing! Can we sending stone our crew to meet us at Regal Port? We can sail with Demog till we are close and take the life boat onto shore or fly there as the case may be. During the night would offer some protection. For flaming horses, maybe more difficult unless you come into port from a secluded direction or can make that horse invisible? I dont want to go to Tantamar! Can we be on with this mission!

Thraxis's Tattoo

I see your perspective. Let me take a look at the map again.

Thraxis's Tattoo

Ok, new thought. Taking into account everything that everyone has said. Regal Port is too far away. This ship is definitely about to leave for Tantamar. We ask Damog to find us a village on the north coast of the island of Farwatch Isle. That would only lose him half a day of travel. I think it’s the least we could do. Sending stone The Dying Son now and tell them to meet us in said village (assuming one is available). Then, we go back to Port Verge, stock up on whatever is needed, and make way to our destination. Getting to a major Port city is important to do before we make our trek. There are definitely things that need to be purchased. This way, we skip Tantamar completely and the 4-5 days lost. The Dying Son could find us in a day and a half.
Is this a good compromise for everyone? Otherwise we could get picked up in Dreadhold as an alternative. I personally don’t know anything about it, so I don’t know if that is a good idea or not.

Thraxis's Tattoo

how wide is the island of Far Watch? Fishing villages might be too small for him to find us, but maybe if we said meet us at northeast corner of Far Watch island that would be specific enough that we could locate them in a couple days when they come near (aerial reconnaissance). Still think we gut the captain.

I don’t want to lose 5 days to travel with these pirates. Who knows what that translates to in terms of dire consequences for those with weird dragon marks. I want to save my warforged and undead friends. Also, the Dying Son was only contracted to us for 90 days if I recall correctly. 5 days of doing nothing is a rather large percentage loss of that time frame.

Still think we should gut the captain. And maybe the rest of the crew too. Cut any trails that could lead to us. Now that I think of it, the fiends that are after me could easily follow this trail and we don’t want that kind of heat for sure!

Thraxis's Tattoo

WR: You are being paranoid.
Knyanna: I don’t think going along with this is going to be a major problem. I doubt that it’s true that “No one cares if you use their dock as a chop shop.” If someone comes looking and Damog doesn’t feel safe, we’re screwed.

5 days only equals 1/18 of the time we get from the Dying Son Crew. Sort of a drop in the bucket, honestly… And more time for us to prepare.

Thraxis's Tattoo

Still liking the Far Watch plan. I think we could expand on that and make it work.

Thraxis's Tattoo

Gut the captain.

Thraxis's Tattoo

When you say captain do you mean DM?
